Black Christmas
This is a remake of a 1974 film. I hope the original was good because this one vastly was not. A long institutionalized killer escapes and returns to his home. Which is now a sorority house filled with a bevy of beauties. Some of who we know. Michelle Trachtenberg, Lacey Chabert, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Crystal Lowe among others. It's a typical plot for a horror film but one that is interesting in the right hands. Sadly here is not one such instance. The pacing is off and each scene feels like it's just there to advance us to the next kill. With no real effort on the story or the characters and a number of plot points that don't make sense this film falls flat. There is one cool kill scene involving a creation of the weather. Otherwise the assembled actresses talents are wasted. Even if you're a fan of one of these ladies I'd think twice before seeing this. Wait for a premium cable channel run and save your money for a better film.
